RALEIGH, N.C. – An experienced player in both the ACC and SEC, Madison McPherson is set to join the NC State Softball team for the 2022 season. McPherson, a lefty pitcher, comes to the Wolfpack after spending time at Georgia Tech and Georgia.
"We're really excited about adding someone with Madison's ability and will to win to our roster," said head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift. "This was our second time recruiting Madison, and we are so glad we will get to see her in a Wolfpack uniform. She is a hard-throwing lefty that brings the ability to throw three speeds, and having that ability to hit 67-69 mph from the left side is going to be a game changer for us."
In her two seasons as a Yellow Jacket, McPherson made 31 appearances including 14 starts and three saves. McPherson, a talented prospect out of the state of Georgia, was a three-time Regional Player of the Year in addition to the Wendy's Heisman winner for the state of Georgia her senior season. She was also an accomplished basketball player, earning three All-Region basketball honors at Marion County High School.
"I chose NC State because it truly feels like home," said McPherson. "The coaching staff is amazing, and I feel like a part of the family already. I cannot wait to compete in the circle and be a part of the Pack."
Academically, McPherson earned ACC Academic Honor Roll accolades in 2020 and 2021 after being a two-time All-SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree as well. McPherson comes from an athletic family as both her parents, Fran and Tim, played collegiately at UT-Martin.
