LOUISVILLE, KY. – NC State softball's Logan Morris and Angie Rizzi were named to the NFCA Division 1 All-Region teams, Thursday afternoon for their respective positions. It is the first All-Region honor for both Morris and Rizzi in their careers, and the first NC State players to receive the accolades since 2017.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all student-athletes are now eligible for the 2021 NFCA Division 1 All-America squads. All selections are based by position.
Morris earns the postseason honors, following a season where she recorded an ACC-best 45 RBI in her 48 games played. It was her second-consecutive season leading NC State in RBI, after also doing so in the abbreviated 2020 slate. She batted a .338 with a .608 slugging percentage as one of three NC State players with double-digit home runs, ending the season with 10.
She had 10 multi-hit games and a team-best, 15 multi-RBI performances. The Sumter, S.C. native had several top performances against ranked opponents, including four of her 10 home runs against top-25 teams.
Her slugging percentage, runs batted in and sac flies all rank top-10 in single-season in program history, while she moved into the top-10 career home run rankings following just two and a half seasons at NC State. Morris has recorded 26 home runs since joining the Pack in 2019. Her career slugging percentage, on-base percentage and runs batted in all also rank top-10 in program history. Morris started 47 of her 48 games played at third base, accumulating a .964 fielding percentage with 50 putouts and 57 assists.
Rizzi's third team honors comes after an All-ACC performance in 2021 where she le the Wolfpack with a .360 batting average, 30 walks and a .482 on-base percentage. The fifth-year concluded her collegiate career, ranking fifth in the ACC throughout the regular season and second on the NC State team with 12 home runs.
She also tallied 28 stolen bases, ranking as the third most in a single-season at NC State and was second in the ACC behind teammate, Sam Russ. Rizzi's .713 slugging percentage, on-base percentage and batting average are all top-10 single-season marks at NC State.
Rizzi recorded 13 multi-hit games and had 11 games throughout the season with multiple RBI. She earned ACC Player of the Week honors earlier in the year following an 8-for-13 performance across four games against Pitt. Throughout her three and a half seasons at NC State, Rizzi recorded 48 career stolen bases and 99 career runs, the fourth and eighth-most in program history, respectively.
