
NC State Wraps Up Action at 2021 ACC Softball Championships

LOUISVILLE, KY. – The NC State softball team concluded action at the 2021 ACC Softball Championships, Thursday afternoon in a close 2-0 battle against second-seeded Florida State in Louisville, Ky.
Estelle Czech pitched her second complete game of the ACC Championships, with a solid performance in the circle for the second-straight game. Czech allowed two runs on six hits with a strikeout. Czech pitched 13.0 innings in her first ACC Championships, allowing just two earned runs.
NC State (26-25) opened the game with a solid scoring opportunity as Angie Rizzi drew a lead off walk to open the game. After stealing second base, the next three NC State batters were retired in order. The Pack had at least one runner reach base in the second and third inning but were unable to score a run.
Florida State struck first with a solo home run in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead they would carry. The NC State defense came up big, tying a program ACC Championships record with two double plays, both coming on plays in the outfield.
The Seminoles had a pair of runners reach base in the bottom of the fifth on a double and a walk, before NC State thwarted the scoring attempt on a groundout to the catcher. Florida State's insurance run came in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly. Randi Farricker reached base to lead off the seventh on a hit by pitch but was unable to score.

- The Wolfpack's first round win secured the first back-to-back winning seasons for NC State since 2014-15 season.
- NC State finished the season with a .369 on-base, the highest in program history.
- Farricker concludes an outstanding junior season, with the second-highest slugging percentage in a single-season (.788), behind Renada Davis .798
