Over the course of the 2021 season, the Olathe, Kan., native accumulated 16 scores of 9.900 or better. The number puts her in the NC State record book with the fourth-highest number of career 9.9 marks in program history. She holds a career high of 9.900 on vault, bars and beam and a 9.925 on floor in addition to a career best of 39.500 in the all-around.
At the conclusion of the 2021 regular season, including the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) championship, Shepard ranked in the top-15 in the region on all four events and checked into the regional all-around rankings at fifth.
The sophomore was additionally named EAGL Gymnast of the Year, the fourth gymnast in Wolfpack history to garner the honor. She posted a pair of career high-tying all-around scores of 39.500 at NC State's historic Regionals weekend, and her 9.925 on floor in the second round was good to earn her an individual qualifying spot in the 2021 NCAA Championship.
Shepard will represent NC State at the NCAA Championships in Semifinal II, scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Friday, April 16.
