Final ranking is second-best in program history
RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team ended its 2020-21 campaign ranked No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches Poll that was released on Monday afternoon. It is the second-highest Coaches Poll finish in program history behind only a No. 4 final ranking in 1997-98.
The Wolfpack has now been featured in the final Coaches Poll Top 10 for three seasons in a row, which ties as the longest such streak in program history. The team finished 10th three seasons in a row from 1989-90 to 1990-91.
NC State finished the year with a 22-3 record and reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the third season in a row, a feat that had been accomplished just one other time in the program's 47-year history. The Wolfpack successfully defended its ACC Tournament title to win back-to-back crowns for the first time ever, and the team also earned its first-ever No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament.
The Pack spent every week of the season in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll, which included three-straight weeks at a program-best-tying No. 2.
