INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Monika Vicario of the NC State women's golf team earned an individual bid to compete in the 2021 NCAA Regional Championship, as announced by the committee on Wednesday afternoon. She is one of six individuals who have been selected to the Columbus regional site, hosted by Ohio State at the Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course.
This is the 18th time in the last 20 seasons the tournament has been held that the Wolfpack will be represented in the postseason.
The tournament will be conducted May 10-12 at four different sites, and the top six teams and three individuals (not on a qualifying team) from each site will advance to the NCAA Championship May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Vicario led the Pack this spring with a 73.93 stroke average in five tournaments and collected top 20 finishes in the final three of three. She closed out the regular season on a high note, finishing T8th at the ACC Championship with a 216 (E), and made program history while doing so. Her opening-round of 69 (-3) was the second lowest in program history, her 54-hole score of 216 tied as the lowest total by a Wolfpack player while her T8th showing is the fourth-best finish among the program at the ACC Championship.
