RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team has added a talented transfer to its 2021 roster with the addition of Elissa Alcantara. Alcantara joins the Wolfpack following two seasons at Colorado.
"We are delighted to have Elissa joining our Pack Volleyball family," said head coach Luka Slabe. "Elissa played significant time at both the outside and opposite hitter position, competing the very tough Pac-12 league. She has the ability to attack at a very high point with range and power and we are excited to further develop her all-around skills and toolbox as an attacker. Adding Elissa's experience and skill set to our pin attacking positions is going to be essential to our growth as a program."
A 6-2 outside hitter, Alcantara is originally from Tampa, Fla. where she was the 82nd ranked recruit by PrepVolleyball coming out of Tampa Catholic High School. She was an Under Amour Third Team All-American after an outstanding senior campaign that featured 321 kills and a .344 hitting percentage. She was also awarded the Esmark All-American award for her accomplishments in the classroom and the community.
She saw action in all 20 matches for Colorado in the 2020 campaign, averaging 2.11 kills per set and 0.43 blocks per set. Alcantara's season-best performance came against Cal where she registered 15 kills with a .464 hitting percentage.
Alcantara will bring some international experience to the NC State roster, as a member of the Puerto Rican Women's National Team.
