Pack Falls to Clemson in Semifinals of ACC Championship

ATLANTA – The NC State men's golf team was one of four teams to advance to match play in the ACC Championship, but fell to Clemson in the semifinals Sunday evening at the Capital City Club.
For the first time in ACC Championship history, the top four teams after 54 holes of storkeplay advanced to match play to determine the ACC team champion.
North Carolina, Clemson, Florida State and the Pack advanced to the match play semifinals.
NC State, which finished third in the 54-hole stroke play competition, faced off against stroke play runner-up Clemson.
Maximilian Steinlechner won his match 1 UP to score the Pack a point, but Clemson won three other matches, clinching the point when Colby Patton birdied the 20th hole of his match against Carter Graf.
The Tigers will face Florida State on Monday morning at 9 a.m. to determine the ACC Team Champion.
Stroke Play Recap
The Pack's third place finish in stroke play is its highest finish at the ACC Championship since finishing third in 2005. NC State's team score of nine-under par is the sixth-best in program history at the ACC Championship.
The Pack and Clemson's match will begin at 3:15 p.m. this afternoon.
Benjamin Shipp led NC State with a second place finish. The Duluth, Ga., native fired a one-under par 69 on Sunday to finish one-shot back of the winner.
Shipp's opening round of 64 was the lowest 18-hole score in program history in the ACC Championship. His 54-hole score of 201 is the lowest in program history and his score of nine-under par is tied for third-best in program history at the ACC Championship.
Maximilian Steinlechner finished in a tie for 15th place at one-over par.
Carter Graf, Easton Paxton and Christian Salzer all finished in a tie for 23rd place at three-over par for the tournament.
