TEMPE, Ariz. – For the third week in a row, the NC State women's tennis team moved up in the national team rankings as it reached a season-best No. 4 in Wednesday's release of the Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
The Wolfpack has spent back-to-back weeks in the top five and has been featured in the national top 15 every week since Feb. 26, 2019. The squad has soared as high as a program-best No. 3, a mark that it achieved during 2020 dual match play.
NC State heads into postseason play with a 16-4 overall record and ended league play with a 10-3 ACC record. The Wolfpack won nine of its final 10 matches of the regular season, with its only loss coming at the hands of top-ranked North Carolina. Seven of the Pack's 16 victories on the season have come against ranked opponents, with NC State most recently defeating then-No. 12 Virginia in a 4-3 battle that came down to the final court.
The ITA also released its Coaches Poll, with the Wolfpack ranked No. 5 nationally there, and NC State also sits at No. 8 in the USTA Top 25 Rankings.
In the latest doubles standings, NC State had three active pairs featured. Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami lead the way at No. 4 nationally, with their 19-5 record as a pair ranking as the best win percentage by a Wolfpack duo this season. That ranking is a career-best for the pair after they were previously tabbed fifth earlier in March. Anna Rogers and Alana Smith are ranked No. 11 as a pair after posting a 20-7 clip together this season.
Freshmen Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli checked in at No. 73 after popping into the rankings for the first time in their careers last week. They ended the regular season by winning their last 10 doubles matches and have not lost since Feb. 26. Most recently, they defeated No. 52 Amber O'Dell and Vivian Glozman of Virginia for what was the Wolfpack duo's second victory over a ranked doubles pair this season.
Despite not playing together since the early stages of the season, Rencheli and Lexi Keberle still check in at No. 54 in doubles as well.
In singles, Rogers and Smith are ranked fifth and 21st, respectively. Rogers is 19-5 in singles play this season, with 11 of her victories coming against nationally-ranked foes on the top court. Smith has compiled a singles record of 16-8 in 2021, with nine ranked wins of her own. Her No. 21 ranking is the best of the season for the Wolfpack junior.
Rencheli made her career debut in the singles rankings this week as well, checking in at No. 103.
The Pack turns its attention to the 2021 ACC Championships, which begin on Friday, April 23 for NC State.
