GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following an 8-for-13 performance at the plate last weekend, NC State's Angie Rizzi was named ACC Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Rizzi was an offensive spark for the Wolfpack as NC State swept Pitt for a four-game series win. She batted a .615 with a 1.154 slugging percentage that included a double and two home runs. Rizzi notched four RBI in the leadoff spot for the Wolfpack and scored four runs, in addition to going 2-for-3 on stolen bases. She recorded a hit in all four games of the series, including back-to-back 3-for-4 performances in Saturday's doubleheader.
On the season, Rizzi has a team-best .420 batting average and leads the ACC with a .544 on-base percentage. She ranks second on the team and ties for third with eight home runs for a .818 slugging percentage. Rizzi is the second NC State player to be named ACC Player of the Week, joining Sam Russ who earned the honor March 9.
Rizzi and the Wolfpack are scheduled to take on #16/15 LSU this weekend in a non-conference matchup. The series is scheduled for April 16-17 with all three games broadcast on ACCNX. Attendance at NC State softball events is limited to player and staff guests only.
