Wolfpack forward averaged 18 points and 64.7 percent shooting in three games
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Wolfpack women's basketball sophomore Jada Boyd was named to the NCAA Women's Basketball Mercado Region All-Tournament Team following her incredible performances in the first three rounds of 2021 tournament action last week.
Playing in the first NCAA Tournament of her NC State career, Boyd put together three 18-point outings, with her scoring performances against North Carolina A&T (first round) and Indiana (Sweet 16) leading the Pack. She averaged her 18 points per game while shooting 64.7 percent (22-of-34) from the floor and also added 5.7 rebounds per outing. In NC State's second-round victory over South Florida, Boyd notched the sixth double-double of her career and fifth of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The recognition follows an incredible sophomore campaign for Boyd during which she was honored as ACC Co-Sixth Player of the Year. The Petersburg, Va., native averaged 11.5 points per game this season, and she scored in double figures in 12 games with shooting averages of 50+ percent in 10 outings.
Arizona's Aari McDonald was named Most Outstanding Player in the region, and Grace Berger (Indiana), Mackenzie Holmes (Indiana) and Jordan Nixon (Texas A&M) joined Boyd on the All-Tournament Team.
