
Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Teams, Individuals Honored with USTFCCCA All-Academic Laurels

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The NC State men's and women's cross country programs have each been honored as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-Academic Teams, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Thursday.
To garner team All-Academic honors, a team must hold at least a 3.0 team GPA on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
The Wolfpack women maintain a team GPA of 3.651 while the men's team tabs a 3.28.
Individuals on each team also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To earn the honor, a student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and additionally must have qualified for a national championship meet or finished in the top five of his or her respective conference championship.
On the men's side, Hannes Burger, Gavin Gaynor and Ian Harrison received the honors.
Six members of the Wolfpack women's cross country squad were named to All-Academic Athletes: Kelsey Chmiel, Mariah Howlett, Savannah Shaw, Hannah Steelman, Katelyn Tuohy and Julia Zachgo.
Chmiel, Gaynor, Howlett, Shaw and Zachgo each earned the laurels for the second time in their careers.
