GREENSBORO, N.C. – Swimming in his first-ever championship final, Wolfpack sophomore Kacper Stokowski finished as the national runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday evening.
With one day remaining at the NCAA Championships, the Pack heads into Saturday in eighth place with 120 points.
100 BACKSTROKE:
Stokowski entered Friday having garnered All-America honors with a pair of Wolfpack relays, but the 100-yard backstroke marked his first individual action at the 2021 NCAA Championships. The sophomore swam the fastest time of his collegiate career in the prelims (44.70) and bettered that mark in the championship final (44.37) to take home a silver medal.
That time is good for second in program history, and it marked the Pack's third-straight top-two finish in the event at the NCAA Championships. Alumnus Coleman Stewart claimed gold and then silver in 2018 and 2019, respectively, before Stokowski followed up with his silver in 2021.
