NC State Secures Three Top-Eight Finishes on Day Two of NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State's men's swimmers came away with All-America and honorable mention honors in four of five events on day two of the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Ross Dant (500-yard freestyle) and junior Giovanni Izzo (50-yard freestyle) earned individual finals appearances on the Pack's first full day of competition at the national meet, and the Pack's 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay also picked up top-eight finishes.
Through two days at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, NC State sits in sixth place as a team with 86 points. The Pack is the highest-standing ACC team thus far.
200 FREE RELAY:
The Pack's sprinters posted their fastest 200-yard freestyle relay time of the season to start NC State's night with a top-eight finish. The relay crew clocked a 1:16.24 for eighth place.
Noah Henderson led off with a 19.28, just off his 19.27 50-yard freestyle personal best. Hunter Tapp (19.22), Giovanni Izzo (18.79) and Kacper Stokowski (18.95) rounded out the relay for the Pack to garner All-America honors in the event.
500 FREESTYLE:
After entering the meet with a top-eight seed time, Ross Dant delivered in the 500-yard freestyle and finished with All-America status in the first NCAA Championships race of his career. He placed eighth in the event with a mark of 4:12.37.

400 MEDLEY RELAY:
NC State ended its night with its 400-yard medley relay squad finishing eighth to garner All-America honors. Kacper Stokowski (45.14), Rafal Kusto (52.14), Noah Henderson (45.62) and Hunter Tapp (41.57) won their heat in 3:04.47.
50 FREESTYLE:
Giovanni Izzo reached his first NCAA Championships individual final. He placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle consolation final with a time of 19.38 and picked up points for the Pack as the 13th overall finisher. His mark was a season best.

Prelim results: Michael Moore (30th - 1:44.73), Erge Gezmis (38th - 1:45.46), Noah Bowers (40th - 1:45.73)
UP NEXT:
The Pack will return to action on Friday for another day of competition at the NCAA Championships. Prelims are set for a 10 a.m. start, with the finals session beginning at 6 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN3.
