
Men's Tennis Ranked 21st in Oracle/ITA Rankings

TEMPE, ARIZ. - The NC State men's tennis team checks into the most recent Oracle/ITA rankings at No. 21, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
The Wolfpack has been ranked every week of the 2021 season as a team and featured student-athletes in the initial singles and doubles rankings released on Jan. 13. The singles and doubles rankings began again on Mar. 24, and NC State has multiple ranked team members.
DOUBLES RANKINGS
Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai lead the way with a ranking of No. 17. The duo holds a 5-2 record that includes a victory over then-No. 22 Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad of Miami. The win is the highest-ranked by the pair in 2021.
Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak sit at No. 30 in the most recent rankings. Galarneau and Turzak have taken down seven doubles opponents in dual match action and have not lost a doubles match since Feb. 7, 2021. In all, the duo has only dropped two doubles matches this season.
Babelis is additionally ranked No. 35 with Robin Catry. The pair has the highest-ranked win of any NC State doubles team in 2021 as they defeated then-No. 8 Trent Bryde and Tyler Zink in NC State's matchup at then-No. 12 Georgia.
SINGLES RANKINGS
In singles, Galarneau is the highest-ranked member of the Wolfpack. The fifth year checks in at No. 13, a ranking achieved by his 9-2 singles record in 2021. He has won six consecutive singles matches and has defeated five ranked opponents, including victory over then-No. 6 Richard Ciamarra of Notre Dame.
Rafa Izquierdo Luque rounds out the rankings at No. 97, and his ranking marks the first time that he has been ranked in singles action. The Santiago de Compostella, Spain, native boasts a win over Georgia's then-No. 18 Philip Henning as well as then-No. 64 Stefan Milicevic of Miami.
UP NEXT
NC State travels to Georgia Tech for a 5 p.m. matchup Mar. 26 before making the trip to Clemson, S.C., for a Mar. 28 competition at 1 p.m.
