Final ranking ties as the best in program history
RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team (20-2) checked in at No. 3 in the final Associated Press Top-25 Poll that was released on Monday afternoon. It ties with the 1977-78 squad as the best final AP ranking in program history.
The Wolfpack has now been featured in the season-ending AP Top 10 three seasons in a row, marking the first time the program has put together such a streak. NC State spent the last 15 polls in the top five, which is also the longest such streak in a single season in team history.
NC State continues its sixth-straight 20+ win season, with its most recent victory coming in the championship game of the 2021 ACC Tournament. The Wolfpack successfully defended its title to win back-to-back ACC Tournament crowns for the first time. NC State beat top-seeded and then fifth-ranked Louisville in the final, and that victory was its third over a top-five opponent this season.
The Pack spent three weeks of the 2020-21 campaign at No. 2, tying as the best AP Top 25 ranking in program history. This season marked NC State's first time ranked second since week seven of the 1990-91 campaign.
NC State women's basketball awaits Monday night's NCAA Tournament Selection Show.
