
Sharp-Shooting Orange Get Past the Pack

Syracuse shot 56.7 percent and hit 14 three-pointers in defeating NC State
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team dropped its second-round ACC Tournament contest to eighth-seed Syracuse, 89-68, Wednesday afternoon inside Greensboro Coliseum.
The Orange shot 56.7 percent and hit 14 three-pointers to defeat the Pack. The 14 three-pointers were the most allowed by NC State this season.
Braxton Beverly finished with nine points for the Pack. A first half three-pointer pushed the Hazard, Ky., native over the 1,000-point mark. He is the 54th-player in program history to score over 1,000 points in his career.
D.J. Funderburk led the Pack with 14 points. Manny Bates added 12 points and seven rebounds while Dereon Seabron finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Syracuse shot 58.1 percent in the first half as the Orange led by as many as 11 points in the opening 20 minutes. The Pack scored the final five points of the first half to cut the deficit to just five points at the break.
Buddy Boeheim scored 20 points in the first half, hitting 8-of-11 field goals.
Syracuse opened the second half on a 16-3 run to take an 18-point lead with 15:35 to go. NC State would never get closer than 14 the rest of the way.
Boeheim finished with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Joe Girard III added 14 points while Alan Griffin and Quincy Guerrier each added 12.
