RALEIGH – The NC State volleyball team finally returns to action Friday, Feb. 26 with a non-conference matchup against Duke inside Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack ended the fall portion of its schedule on a four-match and nine-set win streak and will look to carry its momentum into the spring schedule that is scheduled to include 10 additional ACC matchups.
NC State (4-4) picked up impressive wins to end its season, sweeping Virginia Tech twice in the team's final matches of the season. Jade Parchment has seen plenty of success this year which included earning the final ACC Player of the Week honors in the fall after averaging 5.17 kills per set and 3.33 digs per set on a .441 hitting percentage against the Hokies.
THE MATCHUP
NC State had two tightly contested matches against Duke in the fall with the Blue Devils coming away with both victories. Evans finished the fall slate averaging 3.59 kills per set, which ranked second on the NC State team and eighth in the ACC. NC State is one of three ACC teams to have two athletes in the top-8 in the conference in kills per set.
The Pack's defense proved to be a force in the fall, ranking third in the ACC in digs per set and second in opponent hitting percentage. NC State held its opponents to a .157 hitting percentage.
The Blue Devils were led by Lily Cooper and Payton Schwantz in the first two meetings of the season between the two programs. Duke (8-2, 6-2 ACC) has played two non-conference matchups in 2021, sweeping both VCU and Appalachian State after ending the fall with back-to-back ACC wins.
