RALEIGH – The NC State softball team announced two additions to its 2021 recruiting class, Tuesday afternoon. Hope Brennan and Jesi Shelnutt will join the Wolfpack this coming fall in addition to the six that NC State signed earlier this year.
Hope Brennan
New York, New York
Poly Prep Country Day School
5'9 | IF/UT | R/R

Brennan comes from an accomplished high school career where she was named the Poly Prep top sophomore student-athlete and top junior student-athlete in 2019 and 2020. She helped lead her team to back-to-back New York State Championships. In 2019 she batted .356 with three home runs and 10 RBI.
Her father won a national championship at Notre Dame and played in the NFL, while her sister Catie currently swims for the Irish.
"I chose NC State for the academics, athletics, the die-hard fan base, supportive community, location and the beautiful campus!"
Jesi Shelnutt
Mount Airy, North Carolina
North Surry HS
6-1 | C/UT | R/R

Shelnutt joins the Pack as a talented in-state prospect who was an outstanding three-sport athlete at North Surry, earning multiple varsity letters in basketball, volleyball and softball. Shelnutt was an all-conference player her sophomore year after leading her high school team in batting average (.418) and ranking second in hits (28). Her high school team finished as runner-up in the Western Piedmont 2A Conference tournament in 2019 and was 3-1 in the team's first two weeks in 2020.
"NC State has been my dream school ever since I was seven years old. When I'm on the campus it just feels like home. Choosing NC State was a very easy decision, and really a dream come true."
