INDIANAPOLIS – For the second-consecutive year, NC State's rifle Makenzie Sheffield will represent the Wolfpack at the NCAA Rifle Championships. Sheffield qualified as an individual in smallbore, after an outstanding 585 at the NCAA Qualifier last weekend. It marks the fifth time in the last five years NC State has been represented at the National Championship.
She was one of nine individual qualifiers in 2020, qualifying then in air rifle as one of only two freshman included in the 2020 field. The NCAA Rifle Championships were canceled prior to them kicking off.
Sheffield has averaged a team-best 583 small bore across the season, a number which is top-25 in the country. The NCAA Rifle Championships are scheduled to take place March 12-13 at Converse Hall in Columbus, Ohio with Ohio State serving as the host institution.
