GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four members of the NC State women's soccer team were featured on the Atlantic Coast Conference's 2021 awards list on Thursday afternoon, as Jameese Joseph earned Second Team All-ACC honors, Lulu Guttenberger was named Third Team All-ACC and Emika Kawagishi and Annika Wohner were featured on the ACC All-Freshman Team.
This is the fifth time since the 2016 season that NC State has had two or more players represented on the list (NC State did not compete in 2020 as an indirect impact of COVID).
All four members of the Pack started in all 18 matches in the regular season.
For Joseph, the team's leader in scoring (8 goals) and points (18), this is her second postseason honor from the league as she was tabbed ACC All-Freshman in 2019. She started the regular season with four goals in the first five matches and ended the slate with four goals in the last six conference matches, which was highlighted by game winners at No. 4 Duke and vs. No. 3 North Carolina in back-to-back weeks to earn ACC Player of the Week honors.
For Guttenberger, this is the third honor from the ACC in her career after earning ACC All-Freshman honors in 2017 and Third Team All-ACC honors in 2019 after suffering a season-ending injury early in the 2018 season. She currently leads the team with five assists on the year and has scored three goals from the back line.
In their first season with the Wolfpack, Kawagishi and Wohner have been essential pieces to a young lineup. The two have combined for 18 points (7 goals) and 2,920 minutes on the year.
Wohner ranks second on the team with five goals, and three of them came during ACC play as her equalizer at No. 4 Duke and game winner at Louisville highlight her rookie campaign so far. Additionally, one of her two assists on the year was for Joseph's game winner over North Carolina.
Kawagishi tallied goals from the midfield against Oklahoma and Syracuse, helping NC State earn shutout wins over both teams. She additionally picked up corner kick assists on Jenna Butler's game-winner against Elon and Wohner's equalizer at Duke.
Next up for the Pack is the NCAA Tournament. Despite the ACC Tournament being reduced to six teams, typically eight to 10 teams from the league make the national tournament. The selection show is Nov. 8 at 4:30 p.m. on NCAA.com, and the NCAA First Round will be held Nov. 12-14 at select campus sites.
