
NC State Beats UNC Pembroke 92-36 in Preseason Tuneup

RALEIGH – NC State women's basketball took care of business in its final tuneup of the 2021-22 preseason, beating visiting UNC Pembroke 92-36 in a Wednesday night exhibition outing.
With fans returning to Reynolds Coliseum for the first time since the 2019-20 season finale, NC State showed off its depth by playing all 13 available players. Six Wolfpack women scored eight or more points, and four hit double figures.
Sophomore guard Diamond Johnson led all scorers with 18 points. She shot 7-of-12 from the floor and knocked down a pair of three pointers. Johnson also added five rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Genesis Bryant (12 points), Camille Hobby (12 points) and Elissa Cunane (11 points) joined her in double figures.
In addition to Johnson, Madison Hayes, Aziaha James, Sophie Hart and Jessica Timmons played their first game inside of Reynolds Coliseum. James dished out four assists and hauled in an impressive seven rebounds behind teammate Jakia Brown-Turner's nine, and Hayes finished just a point below double figures.
NC State's regular season officially begins Tuesday, Nov. 9 when preseason No. 1 South Carolina makes the trip to Raleigh. The game is slated to begin at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
