GREENSBORO, N.C. – Graduate student Melissa Evans and freshman Jada Allen have earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Evans was named to the All-ACC First Team for the second time in her career while Allen landed on the ACC All-Freshman Team.
Evans stands alone in Wolfpack volleyball history as she has earned five All-Conference season honors in her career. Prior to this season, the Porter Ranch, Calif., native was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team to become the first Wolfpack player to garner four All-ACC awards. Additionally, Evans finished the season with 156 digs (1.53 per set) and 50 total blocks that included seven solo denials. The graduate student recorded six double-doubles on the season, third-most on the team. Evans tallied three matches with 20 or more kills this season, highlighted by her career-high 25 kills in the five-set thriller win over Rutgers on Sept. 10.
Overall, the opposite racked up 24 games this season with double-digit kills, leading the team in kills in 14 games. On the road at Miami on Oct. 3, Evans recorded her 1,369th career kill to become the program's leader in kills in the rally scoring era.
Allen becomes the first NC State freshman to solidify a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team since Evans saw her name on the team in 2017. This season, she earned ACC Co-Freshman of the Week on Sept. 14 after posting stellar performances at the Rutgers 9/11 Memorial Tournament.
The middle blocker finished the season with 188 kills (1.86/set) on a solid .314 hitting clip and tied with Evans for the fourth-most aces on the team with 11. Defensively, Allen recorded a team-best 79 blocks including 13 solos, second-highest on the team.
