RALEIGH – The fifth-ranked NC State women's basketball team hosts its lone exhibition of the 2021-22 preseason on Wednesday night when it welcomes UNC Pembroke to Raleigh. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and the Braves is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Kay Yow Court inside Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.
Wednesday's game is free to attend, and masks are required for all fans when not actively eating or drinking. There will be no live stream or radio broadcast of the game.
Entering season nine under the leadership of head coach Wes Moore, NC State is ranked fifth nationally by the Associated Press and ESPNW and was selected to finish first in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season based on votes from the league's coaches and blue ribbon media panel.
Senior center Elissa Cunane was named ACC Preseason Player of the Year, and junior wing Jakia Brown-Turner (Preseason All-ACC) and transfer sophomore Diamond Johnson (Newcomer Watch List) also earned conference honors ahead of 2021-22. NC State has five players featured on the preseason watch lists for the Hoop Hall positional awards. In total, the team returns its top eight scorers from last year's team, including four players who averaged double figures and all five starters.
The Wolfpack officially opens the regular season at home against No. 1 South Carolina on Tuesday, Nov. 9. NC State will play its first five regular-season games in Raleigh between Nov. 9 and Nov. 19. Season tickets for 2021-22 are sold out, but a limited number of single-game tickets and Bojangles' mini packs are still for sale.
