@PackWrestle vs. West Virginia
NC State and West Virginia will be meeting for the fourth time in the history of the two programs, all matchups having taken place since 2016. The Pack leads the all-time series 3-0, outscoring the Mountaineers a combined 80-28. The last two meetings were both in Reynolds: 30-9 in 2017 and 26-10 in 2019.

Weight Changes
Although a lot of faces return from the 2021 ACC Championship Wolfpack squad, many of those faces will be at different weight classes in 2021-22.
Â
2021 All-Americans and 'Super Seniors' Tariq Wilson (141 to 149) and Hayden Hidlay (157 to 174) have both moved weight classes for their final campaigns.
Â
Ed Scott started at 149 pounds last year as a true freshman, and will start as the Pack's starter this year at 157 pounds.
Â
Fr. Ryan Jack was a back-up at 133 pounds and R-Fr. Kai Orine was the back-up at 141 pounds last year. They have swamped weight classes and both will start the season as the starter at their new weight.
Â
Here are the projected starters that will be at a new weight class this season:
Wrestler | 2020-21 Wt. Class | 2021-22 Wt. Class |
R-Fr. Kai Orine | Back-up at 141 | Starter at 133 |
Fr. Ryan Jack | Back-up at 133 | Starter at 141 |
Gr. Tariq Wilson | Starter at 141 | Starter at 149 |
Fr. Ed Scott | Starter at 149 | Starter at 157 |
Gr. Hayden Hidlay | Starter at 157 | Starter at 174 |
New Faces and New Places (In the Lineup)
Last year NC State won its third straight ACC Championship and finished in sixth place at the NCAA Championships, the second-highest finish in school history.
Â
The Pack lost only one starter from last year's squad, Daniel Bullard who was an All-American and ACC Champion at 174 pounds. But heading into the first dual of 2021-22, the Pack's lineup will look very different from the 10 that took the mat in Reynolds Coliseum and raised the team trophy for the ACC Championship.
Â
Only Jakob Camacho (125), Thomas Bullard (165) and Trent Hidlay (184) will be returning as starters in their weight classes from last season.
Â
A trio of starters last year all switched weight classes: 'Super Seniors' Tariq Wilson (149) and Hayden Hidlay (174) and freshman Ed Scott (157).
Â
Freshmen Ryan Jack (141) and Isaac Trumble (197) were part-time starters last season at their weight classes, while redshirt-freshmen Kai Orine (133) and Owen Trephan (285) will be in the Pack's starting lineup in a dual for the first time.
