Chmiel Garners ACC Performer of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Kelsey Chmiel has been named ACC Cross Country Performer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The Performer of the Week honor is the first of her career.
The laurels comes on the heels of an impressive performance by the Wolfpack women at the Joe Piane Invitational, an effort led by Chmiel's third-place finish. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., native finished the 5K course in 16:14.6, a time that was only 4.3 seconds behind reigning NCAA Individual Champion Mercy Chelangat (Alabama).
NC State dominated at the meet with all five of its scorers placing in the top 12. The Wolfpack was the only squad with more than two finishers in the top 10 as Chmiel, Hannah Steelman, Katelyn Tuohy and Sarah LaTour each notched top-10 placements. In a field of 12 nationally-ranked teams, the team scored just 38 points.
