Punter Gill Named ACC Specialist of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C. – Wolfpack punter Trenton Gill was named the ACC Specialist of the Week after helping #23 NC State to a 34-27 home win against Louisiana Tech.

Against the Bulldogs, Gill punted six times for an average of 51.2 yards per punt. Four of his six punts traveled at least 50 yards, including his first three of the game, and five of his six punts pinned La. Tech back inside their 25-yard line, a pair inside the 20. Gill's final punt went from the NC State 39-yard line to the La Tech 11 (53 yards), and forced the Bulldogs to start their final drive from their own 11-yard line with 2:56 left.

Six of his seven kickoffs went for a touchback. The 7^th kick only netted La. Tech one extra yard (they started at the 26 instead of the 25 on a touchback).

Bulldog's WR Smoke Harris was the reigning Louisiana Sports Writers Association Special Teams Player of the Week, and Gill's punts limited him to just 2 returns of a combined 11 yards.

Gill was also named one of The Ray Guy's Award top-eight punters of the week. The Ray Guy Punter of the Week will be announced Tuesday morning.
