Pair of NC State Doubles Teams Advance to Carolina Regional Quarterfinals

CARY, N.C. - The NC State men's tennis continued competition at the ITA Carolina Regional on Sunday, posting a singles wins and a pair of doubles wins on the day.
Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens recorded a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Ryuhei Azuma and Teodor Giusca of Clemson to secure a spot in the doubles quarterfinals. Van Sambeek and Rocens will compete against the one-seed in their quarterfinal matchup, No. 29 Brian Cernoch and Mac Kiger (North Carolina).
Another Wolfpack doubles pair tabbed a berth in the quarterfinals as well as Yannai Barkai and Luca Staeheli defeated Diego Giraldo and Federico Garnier (Coastal Carolina) 7-6(7), 6-3. Barkai and Staeheli's next matchup will see them face off against Charlotte's Coy Simon and Stefanos Savva.
In the consolation singles bracket, Yannai Barkai took down Campbell's Robin Angles 6-1, 6-3.
