
Offense Excels in Win Over Boston College

WORCESTER, Mass. – NC State's offense was explosive on Sunday afternoon as the Pack defeated Boston College, 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15) in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action.
The Wolfpack (11-8, 5-3 ACC) recorded 65 kills on a solid .379 hitting percentage, the highest hitting mark in a four-set match for NC State this season. Additionally, the team tallied 59 assists marking the second-highest output in a four-set contest this year.
Graduate student Melissa Evans posted 21 kills, her third 20-plus kill game this season, on a blistering .447 hitting percentage to go along with two blocks. Senior Jade Parchment followed behind with 14 kills on .321 hitting with seven digs and two blocks.
Freshman Amanda Rice recorded a season-best 12 kills on an outstanding .524 hitting percentage with a pair of digs while junior Taylor Rowland added her second consecutive double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior Kristen McDaniel racked up 27 assists and freshman Maggie Jones had 25 assists.
Set One (NC State 25, Boston College 16)
The Pack came out the gates firing as the team went on a 6-1 run to take an 8-3 lead that it would not let up. The Eagles (12-10, 2-6 ACC) came within three at 10-7 but NC State reeled off a 7-1 run to limit any hopes of a comeback for Boston College. Evans was on fire in the set as she recorded seven kills on eight swings for a .750 hitting clip.
Set Two (NC State 23, Boston College 25)
Both teams stayed close to each other early in the set but the Eagles were able to put together a couple of small runs to stay in the lead. Trying to fight back late in the set, NC State held off three set points to bring the score to 24-23 but a kill for Boston College tied the game at one apiece.
Set Three (NC State 25, Boston College 15)
This set was all NC State as the Pack shut down Boston College, holding the Eagles to a .000 hitting percentage (seven kills, seven errors) while recording 17 kills on .536 hitting. Additionally, the defense recorded 13 digs to limit any chance of an offensive spark for Boston College.
Set Four (NC State 25, Boston College 15)
The Pack carried its momentum from the third set into the fourth set as the Wolfpack never trailed in the set despite there being four ties. The final tie came at 4-4 before NC State went on a 10-2 run, forcing Boston College to use both timeouts as it took a commanding 14-6 lead that it would not relinquish.
