RALEIGH – The NC State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will both start their 2021-22 campaigns ranked in the top four of the national standings, as the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released its preseason poll on Thursday.
The Wolfpack women will begin the year at No. 3 overall, and the Pack men check in at No. 4 in the nation as the highest-ranked ACC squad. Both teams finished last season in the top six of the final CSCAA poll and secured top-eight finishes at the NCAA Championships.
On the women's side, NC State secured the best NCAA Championships finish in program history when its squad placed as the runner-up at the 2021 national meet. The Pack finished behind Virginia, with the two ACC squads securing the highest NCAA finishes in league history.
The women won five national titles (two relays, three individual events) at the 2021 NCAA Championships, and they return all but one of those title winners in 2021-22. The team's top seven individual scorers from last year's team are on this year's roster as are eight All-Americans. In addition, the current freshman class was ranked third in the nation.
NC State's men earned their sixth-straight top-10 finish at NCAAs. Back with the team in 2021-22 are eight All-Americans, and the Wolfpack returns all individual points from last season's national meet.
