RALEIGH – NC State women's tennis has added Nell Miller to its roster, as announced by head coach Simon Earnshaw on Friday.
Miller is transferring from Texas Tech where she spent three seasons with the Lady Raiders. She is set to join the Wolfpack for the start of the spring semester and dual match action.
"Nell was a player we looked at prior to college and unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to see her represent the Wolfpack at that point in her career," said Earnshaw. "When a second chance came around this past summer, this was a no-brainer for both Dave (Secker) and I, and we're fortunate Nell was on board and chose NC State to finish out college tennis. We played against Nell both in 2019 and 2020, and her passion, competitive spirit and energy really stood out to us. This was a natural fit for us to add someone with her experience coming off last season's Final Four appearance for our program, and we look forward to seeing her on campus in January. Go Pack!"
While at Texas Tech, Miller was a key part of the starting singles and doubles lineups for the Raiders. She amassed 45 singles victories and 48 doubles wins in her three years and reached a career-high doubles national ranking of No. 35.
A native of Kent, England, Miller most recently went 16-10 in singles in 2020-21. She picked up 14 singles victories in dual play and was the Big 12 Champion at No. 4 singles with her 5-2 record at the position.
"For me, NC State just felt like the perfect fit, from the coaches to the teammates to the education," said Miller. "When speaking to Simon and Dave, it felt like all of the goals aligned and the possibilities were endless. I can't wait to compete for NC State in the spring and finish my last two years there!"
Miller has been ranked as high as No. 846 in the WTA singles standings and No. 414 in the ITF doubles rankings. She was runner-up at the Aegon British Tour Tipton Tournament before coming to college, and she took the WTA No. 219 ranked Ana Guilia Remondina to three sets in singles play. In 2019, Miller won the Norman W15 doubles title.
The daughter of Neil and Vicki Miller, Nell has one sister, Mollie. She is a big Formula 1 fan.
