RALEIGH – The 12th-ranked NC State women's tennis team picked up its third dual match victory of the season on Sunday, defeating visiting Appalachian State by a 7-0 score inside the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack improved to 3-1 overall on the 2021 campaign, while the Mountaineers fell to 0-1 in their season debut.
The Pack went with its usual doubles lineup on its way to claiming the opening point with victories on all three courts.
Amelia Rajecki and Lana Mavor did not drop a game on the way to the 6-0 win over App State's Virginia Poggi and Sandra Anglesio, and NC State's ranked doubles pairs of No. 2 Anna Rogers and Alana Smith and No. 16 Adriana Reami and Jaeda Daniel also cruised to wins.
Reami went on to play on the top singles court for the first time this season, with her 6-3, 6-0 win over Maria Jose Zacarias clinching the victory for the Pack. It added to Mavor's 6-1, 6-1 win over Poggi, which was the first singles victory of the day, and Daniel's 6-0, 6-2 win over Ksenia Aleshina.
Play continued on the three remaining courts. Lexi Keberle defeated Teodora Sevo 6-0, 6-3, and Liz Norman made her dual match debut with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Anglesio. Rajecki wrapped up the outing with the 6-4, 6-2 victory over Helena Figueras to complete the straight-sets sweep across the board.
The Wolfpack is set to round out its non-conference schedule with back-to-back home duals as it hosts Old Dominion on Friday, Feb. 12 and Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 13.
