BLACKSBURG, Va. – The second-ranked NC State women's basketball team (11-1, 6-1 ACC) suffered its first loss of the 2020-21 campaign on Thursday as it fell 83-71 to Virginia Tech in an overtime battle.
With her team down 57-54 after a back-and-forth second half, Wolfpack sophomore Camille Hobby hit a clutch three pointer at the regulation buzzer to send the game into overtime, but the Hokies managed to build up their biggest lead of the outing in the first few minutes of overtime to hold on for the upset.
Hobby led NC State in scoring, setting personal-best marks in points with 19 and rebounds with nine. After earning the first start of her young career, she scored eight points in the first quarter alone to kick off her career night.
Raina Perez (16 points) and Jakia Brown-Turner (15 points) also scored in double figures, and senior Kayla Jones added 12 rebounds on the night.
