RALEIGH – The NC State softball team has released its highly anticipated 2021 schedule, Monday afternoon. The Wolfpack are poised to play a stacked schedule this spring which includes games against four preseason-top 25 teams and 34 games at Dail Softball Stadium.
The Wolfpack is coming off a highly successful 2020 season, despite it being shortened to just 25 games. In those games, NC State put together the best 15-game start in program history and was receiving votes in the final top-25 poll of the season. NC State ranked sixth nationally in home runs per game and led the ACC, while also being the only team in the country to rank top-15 in both home runs and stolen bases.
The Pack returns every member of its starting lineup from the 2020 season, including three seniors who opted to use their extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA, in addition to seven newcomers.
For the first time in program history, NC State is scheduled to kick off its season at home, Feb. 13-14 with a three-game series against Longwood. The Wolfpack will then play host to a pair of ACC opponents for a conference pod challenge the weekend of Feb. 17-20 with six games in four days against Louisville and Boston College.
Gardner-Webb will take a visit to Dail Stadium for a three-game non-conference series before NC State returns to ACC action, March 5-7, against Georgia Tech and March 12-14 against Virginia Tech.
The Wolfpack's first road test will come in back-to-back weekends against Virginia and Notre Dame, March 19-21 and 26-28, respectively.
The team is set to welcome North Carolina A&T to Dail Stadium for a three-game series, Apr. 2-3 before returning to ACC play against Pitt, Apr. 9-11.
The Wolfpack will host powerhouse LSU for a three-game series, Apr. 16-17. The series will be the first three-game regular-season series against an SEC school in Dail Softball Stadium history.
NC State is scheduled to conclude its season with here-consecutive ACC series, including an inaugural matchup against Clemson, Apr. 23-25. The regular-season wraps up with a road trip to reigning ACC Champion, Florida State, Apr. 30-May 1 and a home series against Duke, May 7-9.
The 2021 ACC Softball Tournament is scheduled to take place May 12-15, hosted by Louisville.
Full broadcast and television information will be available at a later date. NC State is closely monitoring local guidelines and will act accordingly in terms of fan attendance. Stay tuned on GoPack.com for the most updated information.
