RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State Athletics and the Wolfpack Club recently launched the Student-Athlete ImPack Program, a transformational new philanthropic opportunity for Wolfpack fans to go above and beyond for NC State student-athletes.Â
Â
This unique program allows donors the chance to build personal relationships with student-athletes, getting to know them outside the field of competition. Gifts to this program will directly support student-athlete scholarships, facilities, and unique athletic department needs as a flexible spending fund after scholarship costs are met. Donations to the ImPack Program are in addition to the Wolfpack Club Annual Scholarship Fund.
Â
"The exciting part about [the ImPack Program] is that it's about people," said NC State Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "It's about that love that they have for NC State, and the opportunity for our alumni to share their experience and what they've been through in life to be able to connect with a young person."
"This was an idea that I brought over with a goal to connect our donors with our student-athletes in an effort to generate resources for the benefit of the athletic department," said Wolfpack Club Executive Director Ben Broussard. "We've heard the excitement. Our donors want to be connected with our student-athletes. They want to mentor. They want to find a way where they can help these young people out."
Â
After joining the program, each donor will be paired with a student-athlete for a four-year term. Donors are encouraged to create and foster a positive relationship with their athlete. ImPack Program benefits include recognition at individual sports banquets, invitations to special events, interaction with student-athletes (with annual compliance review) and the opportunity to provide mentorship for a student-athlete.
Â
On the public launch of the ImPack Program, 25 donors were recently matched up with student-athletes in a live ImPack Pairing Show. The group includes passionate Wolfpack fans across the country. Overall, student-athletes from eight different varsity sports at NC State were matched up.
Â
Individuals who are interested in joining the ImPack program can contact Mitch Watkins, Wolfpack Club Director of Major Gifts, over the phone at 919-865-1507 or via email at mitch.watkins@wolfpackclub.com.
