Monday's poll marks NC State’s first No. 2 national ranking since 1990-91
RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team tied its best Associated Press Top 25 ranking in program history as it moved up to second in the nation on Monday.
The placement marks NC State's first No. 2 national ranking since week seven of the 1990-91 campaign. In total, Wolfpack women's basketball has spent eight weeks in program history as the nation's second-ranked team.
After starting the season at No. 8, the team moved into the top five with a big road win at then-No. 1 South Carolina. The Wolfpack has remained ranked in the AP Top 5 every week since then, with the most recent poll making it seven weeks in a row. It is the longest such streak since it also spent seven weeks in a row ranked fifth or better in the middle of the 1999-2000 season.
The Pack is a perfect 10-0 on the season and has compiled a 5-0 league record. NC State owns the ACC's longest current winning streak of 15 games that started on Feb. 27, 2020. NC State has been ranked in the AP Top 25 every week since Feb. 18, 2018.
