Men's Tennis Slated to Start Season at ACC Challenge

RALEIGH - The eighth-ranked NC State men's tennis team returns to action Saturday, Jan. 16 through Monday, Jan. 18 as it competes at the ACC Challenge. The Wolfpack takes on No. 23 Duke, No. 2 North Carolina and Virginia Tech over the course of the weekend.
The Wolfpack sees action against all three opponents in doubles action Saturday. Singles play begins Sunday at No. 23 Duke and concludes Monday at No. 2 North Carolina.
All matches will count towards individual singles and doubles records but will not contribute to the team win-loss record.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
NC State starts its season ranked No. 8 in the preseason Oracle/ITA rankings, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday. The squad concluded 2020 action ranked sixth nationally and returns all ten members for the 2021 season.
In doubles, Yannai Barkai and Tadas Babelis tabbed their highest-ever ranking at No. 9 as did Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak (No. 23). Both pairs were ranked for at least one week of the 2020 season.
Galarneau opens play ranked No. 7 in singles, topping his previous high ranking of No. 16 achieved in 2018. Babelis checks into the singles ranking at No. 95.
