Trenton Gill Named to the 2020 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State punter Trenton Gill has been named to the 2020 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, which honors 22 student-athletes –only 11 from FBS teams - annually for "stepping up to help those in need." Gill is the third Wolfpack player in the past four years to earn this prestigious honor.
Gill has been involved in NC State's community outreach initiatives since he arrived on campus in 2017. This year, however, he stepped his efforts up a notch. During the COVID crisis, he saw small businesses and families struggling in his hometown of Hillsborough and decided to do something about it. He launched a fundraising campaign to buy meals from local restaurants to support local families in need. He raised more than $8000 and bought 1,000 meals – supplying business to a handful of restaurants and helping numerous families.
On the field, Gill set a school record for punt average last season with an ACC season-best 47.6 yard mark. A second-team preseason Walter Camp All-American, Gill is also on the preseason watch list for the Ray Guy Award.
Gill joins two recent Wolfpack players – now playing in the NFL – as AFCA Good Works Team® nominees: punter A.J. Cole, III (Las Vegas Raiders) in 2017 and James Smith-Williams (Washington Football Team) in 2019.
