RALEIGH – NC State softball head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift announced the addition of Hunter Mundy to the softball staff as a graduate assistant. Mundy, a former standout at Radford, is enrolled in NC State's Master of Public Administration program.
"I'm very excited to announce the addition of Hunter to our program," said Patrick-Swift. "She is a great fit for our program and her accolades speak for the type of player on and off the field when she was at Radford. We have a lot of respect for Radford's head coach Hope Creasy and know that Hunter will bring a wealth of knowledge with her from her time at Radford."
Mundy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Radford in the spring of 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. The 2020 Big South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Mundy appeared in all 16 games in her senior season where she batted .396 with five home runs and 19 hits. In 2019, she led the team with 13 home runs, a mark which tied for third most in the Big South. Mundy was also a 2020 Senior CLASS Award Finalist and a Rhodes Scholar nominee. She concluded her career ranking top-10 all-time at Radford in home runs and slugging percentage.
While at Radford, Mundy also served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three years and was involved in the Radford student government. Mundy was a nominee for both the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year and the Big South Woman of the Year.
A native of Creedmoor, N.C., Mundy was a standout at South Granville High School where she was a four-time All-State and All-District selection. Mundy helped lead South Granville to back-to-back state titles in 2015 and 2016 and was the MVP of the 2015 NCHSAA 2A Championship as a junior.
