RALEIGH, N.C. – For the second-time in program history, the NC State volleyball program has been honored with the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. It is the first honor for NC State since 2017 and the second in the last three years.
The ACC tied for a nation-best as a conference with 11 schools receiving the award. The MAC also had 11 followed by 10 from the Atlantic-10.
The award is provided annually to volleyball teams who maintain a year-long team grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) awarded a total of 1,313 teams for the 2019-2020 season, topping last years record by almost 200 teams. The award was first initiated in the 1992-93 academic year.
