Swimming & Diving Teams Reach New Heights in Classroom

RALEIGH – The NC State men's and women's swimming and diving teams excelled in the classroom again this spring, as both teams posted the highest semester and cumulative grade point averages in their respective histories.
"We are so proud of our student-athletes and their achievements this semester," said head swimming coach Braden Holloway. "They were able to overcome adversity with the school year's end and rose above the circumstances. A special shout out to the women's program for setting an all-time high in the athletic department!"
The women's team reached new heights in the classroom in the spring semester, recording a 3.813 GPA, which is the highest ever among any sport in NC State's history since tracking began in the fall of 2008. Within that number, 15 earned perfect 4.0s and 25 were named to the Dean's List.
The women's squad additionally set an athletics record (since tracking began in the fall of 2015) with a cumulative team GPA of 3.642.
The men turned in an impressive 3.523 semester GPA and a 3.382 cumulative GPA. Both numbers are the highest marks in the men's program's history. 15 members made the Dean's List and six recorded 4.0 GPAs.
Both the women's and men's teams earned the Chancellor's Cup at the 2020 Wolfies Awards, which is awarded to the women's and men's team with the highest cumulative GPA in the previous fall semester.
