The award recognizes departments that excel with player and coach availability, as well as game-day and press box operations.
DALLAS -- The NC State athletics communications department has been awarded the 2019 Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Super 11 award, designed to identify and reward the sports information departments and program that exemplified excellent media relations during the most recent football season.
The award honors the efforts of NC State's football communications team of Assistant AD for Communications Annabelle Myers, Director of Athletics Digital Communications Brian Reinhardt, and Communications Assistant Claire Fischer. The trio organizes and oversees media operations on game days and throughout the year.
The award recognizes departments that excel with player and coach availability, as well as game-day and press box operations. This year's winners were deemed by FWAA observers to have had good accessibility during the week of the game and after the game – with a program's players, coaches and assistant coaches – along with the other listed criteria.
"That was a special point of emphasis for 2018 and 2019," FWAA Executive Director Steve Richardson said. "Our membership wanted access to players after games, of course, but also for human interest and analytical stories during the week. It is encouraging that SIDs were being allowed to do their jobs by coaches at these schools."
The 2020 season will mark Myers' 23rd with the Wolfpack, while Reinhardt has been at NC State for 22 seasons.
FWAA members who covered college football during the 2019 season provided input in the awards survey.
