Smith-Williams Named NFL Ambassador for the #SetTheExpectation Program

RALEIGH, N.C. -Â Former Wolfpack defensive end and current #PackPro James Smith-Williams has been named NFL ambassador for the #SetTheExpectation program, founded by Brenda Tracy.Â

Smith-Williams, a recent draft pick of the Washington Redskins, is the first NFl ambassador for the program. Ambassadors are chosen by Tracy after demonstrating a record of behavior that "reflects kindness, compassion, dignity and respect for others. Ambassadors must be willing to learn, hold themselves accountable and act as leaders and agents for change both on and off the field," according to the release from the organization.

Smith-Williams was the driving force behind Pack Football and the ACC's first-ever SettheExpectation game in 2019.  After hearing Tracy's powerful survivor story after her first visit to NC State last spring, he organized a donation drive benefiting InterAct - a local agency serving survivors of sexual and domestic violence. At the East-West Shrine Bowl game, he wore purple and teal cleats to raise awareness and used his time at the 2020 NFL Combine to raise over $1,000 for the SetTheExpectation nonprofit during the bench press challenge.

#SetTheExpectation dedicates itself to combating sexual and physical violence through raising awareness, giving back, education and direct engagement with coaches, young men and boys in high school and collegiate athletic programs.Â
