NC State has six players reach double figures
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball had six players score in double figures in defeating Wake Forest, 84-64, Friday night at PNC Arena.
With the win, NC State ends the regular season with a 19-12, 10-10 ACC record.
The Pack trailed 13-10 early in the first half, but went on a 24-4 run to take a 34-17 lead with 7:31 remaining until halftime. Junior guard Braxton Beverly scored 16 of the Pack's 24 points during the run as the Hazard, Ky., native hit all six of his field goal attempts, including four three-pointers, during the streak.
The Demon Deacons never got within single digits the rest of the game.
Joining Beverly in double figures was junior D.J. Funderburk with a team-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, Markell Johnson with 13 points, C.J. Bryce with 11 and Devon Daniels and Danny Dixon each added 10.
Johnson added 10 assists for his 11th career double-double and also had a career-high tying four steals.
During the game, Johnson passed Lorenzo Brown (589) to move into third-place on NC State's single-season assist list and now has 596 for his career.
Dixon went 5-for-6 from the field, making his first five field goal attempts as the graduate transfer finished with a season-best 10 points.
NC State shot a season-best 56.7 percent from the field, including 67.6 percent (25-of-37) on two-point field goals.
NC State will return to action on Wednesday in the ACC Tournament. The Pack will be either the fifth or sixth seed in the tournament and will know its game time at the conclusion of Saturday's ACC action.
