
#6 Men's Tennis Set for Three Weekend Matches

RALEIGH - The 6th-ranked NC State men's tennis team (11-4, 1-1 ACC) hosts a doubleheader Friday, March 13, taking on Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent Boston College (2-5, 0-3 ACC) at 12 p.m. and UNC-Greensboro (4-5, 1-2 SoCon) at 4 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Wolfpack travels to No. 13 Wake Forest (12-3, 1-0 ACC) March 15 at 4 p.m.
In accordance with NC State Athletics' policies announced on Thursday in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus), the home matches will be closed to the general public. For more information, see the safety measures.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State took on Virginia Tech on Saturday, March 7, coming away with a 4-2 victory over the Hokies. The Wolfpack took the doubles point with wins by 18th-ranked Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai and the duo of Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak. Virginia Tech took two singles matches but ultimately, Galarneau, Martins Rocens and Yannai Barkai all took their singles matches to clinch the win for the Wolfpack.Â
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
The Wolfpack continued to climb in the rankings as it tabbed the No. 6 spot in this week's Oracle/ITA rankings, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday. The rankings marks the highest team ranking in program history.
In the singles rankings, Galarneau checks in at No. 20, his highest ranking of the season. Babelis sits at No. 92 in the most recent rankings, and the pair of Babelis and Barkai holds the No. 18 spot in the doubles rankings.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College sits a 0-3 in conference play, having lost to Virginia, Notre Dame and Louisville. The Eagles' two wins this season came against UNC-Charlotte and Merrimack.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
The Spartans come off a 3-4 loss to Navy and sit at 4-5 with a 1-2 conference record.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
As a team, the Demon Deacons are ranked 13th in the Oraacle/ITA rankings and maintain a 12-3 record. Two singles players for Wake Forest are ranked, with Bar Botzer checking in at No. 38 and Rrezart Cungu tabbing the No. 95 spot. On the doubles side, Henri Squire and Eduardo Nava are at the No. 58 position.
Wake Forest has defeated three top-25 teams this season in then-No. 12 Baylor, then-No. 19 Oklahoma State and then-No. 24 Duke. The Demon Deacons take on Clemson March 13 before their matchup with NC State March 15.
