
Rifle Alum Kozeniesky Qualifies for Second Olympic Games

COLORADO SPRINGS – NC State alum, Lucas Kozeniesky qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team following his performance today at the Air Rifle Olympic Trials Part II in Colorado Springs, Colo. Kozeniesky won the trials, tying the relay world record with a score of 633.5.
Kozeniesky represents one of four athletes (two females and two males) who qualified for the team and will represent the United States this summer in air rifle at the 2020 Olympic Games. Of the four athletes who made the team today, all competed collegiately across three schools and two conferences.
The 2020 Olympic Games mark will be Kozeniesky's second Olympic appearance, after previously competing in the 2016 Games. Kozeniesky took 21st in Rio and has since earned silver in air rifle at the 2018 Championship of the Americas and then gold in the event at the Pan American Games Lima 2019.
Kozeniesky is a 2017 NC State graduate who in 2016 earned the programs' first All-American honors since 1976. In his collegiate career he was a four-time All-GARC selection and became the first-ever NC State shooter to garner an Olympic berth.
The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 kick off July 24, 2020 and conclude August 9, 2020. Air rifle shooting will be contested July 25 (women) and July 26 (men), and will be held at the Asaka Shooting Range in Tokyo.
Final selections to the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team are subject to U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee approval.
