#7 Pack Heads to Blacksburg to Take On Hokies

RALEIGH – The seventh-ranked NC State women's basketball team (21-1, 10-1 ACC) will play the last of three-straight road games on Thursday evening as it visits Virginia Tech. Tip-off from the Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va., is set for 7 p.m., and the contest will be streamed live on ACCNX.

• NC State overcame a double-digit deficit for the second time this season on Sunday as it completed the comeback victory over Duke. The game marked just the third time in 2019-20 that the Pack has trailed at the half, but NC State battled back thanks to 22 second-half points from Elissa Cunane and three three-pointers made by Grace Hunter in the final four minutes of the game.
• The Wolfpack has shot over 40 percent from long range in nine games this season, including each of its last three outings.

After spending six weeks as the nation's ninth-ranked team, the Wolfpack has been ranked a season-high No. 7 in back-to-back weeks of the AP Top 25 Poll. The team's current placement of seventh marks its best since Jan. 28, 2019 when NC State achieved its highest ranking of the 2018-19 campaign. Before then, the Pack had not been ranked No. 7 or higher since the 1999-2000 season.
BRACKETOLOGY
The NCAA pushed out its first Top 16 release for the upcoming 2020 NCAA Tournament, and the Wolfpack was listed at No. 7. The late season prediction has NC State projected as a two seed in the Greenville Regional, with South Carolina as the one seed.
WOODEN WATCH
Cunane is one of 20 players named to the John R. Wooden Award Late Season Watch List, which features players who are considered front-runners for the honor that recognizes the National Player of the Year. The sophomore center ranks 13th nationally in double-doubles (11), 12th in field-goal percentage (.598) and 25th in rebounds per game (10.3). All three of those numbers are league leaders, and she also ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring (17.0).
FRESHMAN FINDING FOOTING
Jakia Brown-Turner averages in double figures in conference play with 10.6 points per game. The Wolfpack rookie has scored 10+ points in eight of 11 ACC games, including a breakout outing against Florida State with career highs in points (18), rebounds (8) and three-pointers made (3).
TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS ON THE ROAD
Now in season seven under Coach Moore, the Wolfpack has earned 47 true road wins (averaging 7.0 per completed season) since the start of the 2013-14 season. In the prior eight seasons from 2005-06 to 2012-13, the Wolfpack earned 32 true road wins (4.0 per season).
