Men’s Soccer Opens with Tie Against Clemson in Spring Season

Pack has three more games in Spring Soccer Cup
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's soccer team opened its spring schedule against Clemson Saturday at the WRAL Soccer Center. With the game tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the Pack went on to get the 5-4 edge over the Tigers in the first game of the Spring Soccer Cup.
The game officially ended in a 1-1 tie.
After a scoreless first half of action, NC State struck first as AJ Seals set up Kuda Muskwe for the first score of the contest. The Tigers tied the game, and set the contest into penalty kicks.
The Pack won the tiebreaker on PKs, 5-4. NC State keeper Windham Ellis saved the first Clemson attempt, then the Pack converted each of its five kicks – Muskwe, Brad Sweeney, Pablo Pedregosa, Ivy Brisma and Seals.
The game was a battle of a pair of teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. The Pack advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season in 2019, while Clemson played in the quarterfinals.
The Pack will also have road contests against North Carolina (March 21) and Wake Forest (March 28), before concluding its spring schedule hosting Duke on Friday, April 3 at the Dail Soccer Field.
