
Pack Falls Short to #8 Florida State, 67-61

Devon Daniels leads the Pack with 18 points
RALEIGH, NC – Eighth-ranked Florida State opened the second half on an 11-3 run and never looked back in beating NC State, 67-61 inside PNC Arena on Saturday afternoon.
NC State led 32-27 at the half, but Florida State quickly took control of the game in the second half. Two MJ Walker free throws with 16:54 remaining gave Florida State its first lead since 13:25 remained in the first half and the Seminoles never trailed again.
NC State closed to within two, 50-48, on a Markell Johnson lay-up with 10 minutes remaining, but could get no closer as Florida State responded with a 7-0 run to push the lead out to nine.
NC State would never get within five points the rest of the way.
Devon Daniels led the Pack with 18 points and nine rebounds. Jericole Hellems came off-the-bench and added 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and seven rebounds.
Florida State had four players in double figures. Patrick Williams and Walker led the Seminoles with 12 points. Devin Vassell added 11 and Trent Forrest finished with 10.
The shooting stats were nearly identical with Florida State finishing 22-of-54 shooting compared to 23-of-56 for the Pack. NC State was 6-of-19 from three-point range and FSU was 5-of-19. The Seminoles big advantage was at the free throw line where FSU finished the game 18-of-29 and NC State was 9-of-13.
With the win the Seminoles improve to 23-4, 13-3 in the ACC while NC State falls to 17-10, 8-8 in the ACC.
The Pack returns to action Tuesday night when it plays at North Carolina. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 9 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
