
#Pack9 Continues Home Stand This Weekend With Tennessee Tech

RALEIGH – No. 12 NC State baseball (4-0) continues its eight-game home stand this weekend when it hosts Tennessee Tech (3-0) at Doak Field for a three-game series.
Due to adverse weather in the area, the teams will play at 12 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, and the series finale is still set for a 1 p.m. first pitch. All three games will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra, and there will be a free audio stream on WKNC 88.1 FM for each game.

SERIES HISTORY
NC State and Tennessee Tech have only met once prior to this weekend, which was last season when the Golden Eagles traveled to Raleigh on April 23 for a midweek contest. After facing a 6-4 deficit late in the game, a combined six runs in the seventh and eighth innings propelled the Wolfpack to a 10-6 comeback win.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State improved to 4-0 on the year thanks to a 6-1 win over Longwood on Tuesday in Raleigh. The squad strung together six runs on as many hits in the first four innings en route to the victory. Led by David Harrison, who threw a career-long six innings and struck out a career-high seven batters, the pitching staff did not allow a walk in the game.
Tyler McDonough and Lawson McArthur tallied two hits apiece, while Devonte Brown belted the team's third home run of the year to extend his hit and reached base streak to four.

Dating back to the 2012 season, NC State has won its last 16 nonconference series matchups. Additionally, its last six series against nonconference opponents have been sweeps.
WOLFPACK SPEED
The Wolfpack has jumped out to a hot start on the base paths with 15 stolen bases through four games. That number currently tops the ACC and ranks second in the NCAA.
McDonough and Terrell Tatum rank among the top 10 players in the NCAA in stolen bases with five and four, respectively. McDonough stole a career-high three vs. James Madison on Feb. 16, while Tatum swiped a career-best three on Tuesday vs. Longwood.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Patrick Bailey, Brown, Jonny Butler, McDonough, Austin Murr have all reached base in the first four games on a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch. The five players have scored a combined 21 runs and driven in 19 runs through four games.
Additionally, Brown and Butler own a four-game hit streak and McDonough has tallied at least one hit in the last three games.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH
-Tennessee Tech finished off a sweep against Evansville in dramatic fashion to open its season last weekend. The Golden Eagles were down eight runs heading into the seventh inning and mounted a monster comeback, scoring nine straight runs with four coming in the ninth inning to win 11-10.
-The squad was scheduled to play Lipscomb Tuesday, but the game was postponed to a later date.
-The Golden Eagles turned in a 22-32 record in 2019, and finished last in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 9-21 ledger. This year, TTU was predicted to finish fifth in the OVC and had two players, Jason Hinchman and John Dyer named to the All-OVC Team.
-Steve Smith is in his first season at the helm of the Golden Eagles, coming from Auburn where he served as the pitching coach.
-Last season, Hinchman was among the nation's leaders in home runs throughout the year. He led the country with 0.44 homers per game, finishing second in total with 24 home runs in his first season.
-Hinchman won both Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and OVC Player of the Week honors after a big opening weekend. He hit .692 (9-for-13) with five home runs, seven runs, seven RBI, two stolen bases, a 1.846 slugging percentage and .692 on-base percentage. His five homers currently lead the nation.
-Freshman Trey Wright threw three scoreless innings in his appearance over the weekend with one strikeout, one walk and picked up the win.
